Selectmen Meeting Minutes – December 3rd, 2008

PRESENT: 

Selectmen: C. Bruce Ulricson, Douglas F. Erb and Michael M. Ransmeier

Administrative Assistant:  Debbie Geoffroy

Town Constable:  Ed Peterson

Town Road Agent:  Wayne Mardin

The Selectmen began their normally scheduled meeting by reviewing correspondence and paying bills from the previous week. 

2009 Police Department Budget:  The Selectmen met with Town Constable, Ed Peterson.  Mr. Peterson will be resigning his position as Town Constable, effective with the next town meeting in March.  The Selectmen discussed retaining Ed on the town payroll for the purpose of issuance of gun permits and verification of vehicle identification numbers. 

Newsletter Committee:  Patrick Webb met with the Selectmen to discuss the next issue of the Newsletter.  The committee plans to meet on Thursday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm to discuss the content of the next issue.  Mr. Webb reported that the newsletter has been very well received and currently boasts 125 email subscribers, 31 mailed and 12 left at town hall for general public access.  The Selectmen gave Mr. Webb some important dates to publish in the next issue.

Highway Department Budget:  The Selectmen met with town road agent, Wayne Mardin, to discuss the budget needs for the highway department for 2009.  A warrant article for $7,000.00 to purchase a new culvert thawing unit was also discussed.

Town Officials to be Paid:  The Selectmen authorized the issuance of  the 2nd bi-yearly payments to town officials who receive yearly salaries.  In addition, yearly funding checks to the cemetery and fire department, payment to election personnel, and employee bonuses will be issued at the December 19th meeting.

Zoning Ordinance / Workforce Housing:  Selectman, Mike Ransmeier, briefly updated the board on a recent article in the LGC Monthly magazine Town and City which discussed an ordinance mandated by the state that requires all New Hampshire towns to make provisions for workforce housing.

IMPORTANT DATE REMINDER:

Wednesday, December 24, 2008 (CHRISTMAS EVE):  No Selectmen’s Meeting.

Wednesday, December 31, 2008 (NEW YEAR’S EVE):  No Selectmen’s Meeting.  This meeting has been moved to Tuesday, December 30, 2008 to accommodate those that may have plans for New Year’s Eve.
